Ingredients

  • 250g pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
  • 2 quarter-pound (113g each) ground beef patties
  • 2 slices sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 slice provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 2 strips of cooked crispy bacon
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 15 ml olive oil
  • French fries (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven (preferably a pizza oven or a kitchen oven with a pizza stone) to its highest setting, ideally 475-500°F (245-260°C).
  2. Season the beef patties with salt and pepper. Grill or pan-sear them over high heat until they reach your desired level of doneness (about 3-4 minutes per side).
  3. Layer the patties with a slice of cheddar between them and bacon strips. Place a slice of provolone on top of the double stack.
  4. Roll out the pizza dough into a circle large enough to completely encase the burger stack.
  5. Place the burger stack in the center of the dough and wrap the dough tightly around it, pinching the seams together at the bottom to seal.
  6. Lightly brush the exterior of the dough with olive oil.
  7. Place the dough-wrapped burger on the pizza stone or a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes until the crust is golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove from the oven and let rest for 2-3 minutes before slicing in half.
