Ingredients
- 250g pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
- 2 quarter-pound (113g each) ground beef patties
- 2 slices sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 slice provolone or mozzarella cheese
- 2 strips of cooked crispy bacon
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 15 ml olive oil
- French fries (for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven (preferably a pizza oven or a kitchen oven with a pizza stone) to its highest setting, ideally 475-500°F (245-260°C).
- Season the beef patties with salt and pepper. Grill or pan-sear them over high heat until they reach your desired level of doneness (about 3-4 minutes per side).
- Layer the patties with a slice of cheddar between them and bacon strips. Place a slice of provolone on top of the double stack.
- Roll out the pizza dough into a circle large enough to completely encase the burger stack.
- Place the burger stack in the center of the dough and wrap the dough tightly around it, pinching the seams together at the bottom to seal.
- Lightly brush the exterior of the dough with olive oil.
- Place the dough-wrapped burger on the pizza stone or a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes until the crust is golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let rest for 2-3 minutes before slicing in half.
